Manacapuru

Thinking he’d found an opportunity to rest his aching muscles after stopping a few hours early, Martin was dragged onto the stage to join a hoard of Brazilian dancers at a large reception in his honor in Manacaporu.

With a little free time near dusk, some of the team went on an excursion up into some dark backwater swamps off the main river and saw many large crocodiles.

Currently, Pibi and Corrado have joined Miguel to represent the team in planting an endangered tree at Novo Airao to demonstrate our support for his environmental organization. Fundacao Almerinda Malquias serves to teach the youth of the jungle to live in harmony with their environment as their ancestors once did. After swimming 57 km today, Martin will resume his regular routine tomorrow and expects to reach Manaus on Wednesday afternoon.
