Telemedicine on board of Cassiquirri

One of the challenges involving this expedition has been space on board of boats appropriate for the set up of complex Telemedicine Equipment.

Cielito Lindo boat in Peru was much bigger where we could dedicate one suite to the Telemedicine exclusively. The Cassiquirri boat is much smaller compared to Cielito Lindo, therefore much creativity and good will was needed in order to set up and protect the equipment.

Challenges included power shortages, high moisture content of the air, inadequate space to store or setup all of the equipment as well as strong wind and subsequently high waves which were swaying the Cassiquirri nonstop even while docked.

Despite the extremely difficult conditions we were able to use the equipment successfully for examination and monitoring purposes as well as for connecting to the U. of Arizona Telemedicine Center.
